Bought some Pres-To-Logs from HD and I'm not getting any c'tlinkers. Usually when I change pellets I do a deep cleaning to better assess them but didn't even do that. It is mild here if that matters. Same settings on the stove i usually run. I went back and picked up a bit more.

I would think heat tape would have to work pageyjim,being it is taking condensation out of the oak.how much heat do you think tonyray is getting on his oak ,or through,I know it won't heat the air,but it will heat the pipe,any more thoughts?yes mipellet1 inside the oak too.
Really don't know if there is moisture INSIDE the OAK, with the moisture being from the inside air coming into contact of a cold surface. The heating of the OAK stops it from condensating on the outside. I wouldn't be surprised if iheat tape stops the condensation on the outside. Insulating it should work also. I still think the clinkers are caused by the pellets. I'm running different pellets today and no clinkers. Heat tape is prob only $20-30, worth a shot. I think it will stop the condensation but doubt it will effect the clinker issue but hey who knows.
I've been burning the same pellets for the last month,cleaning the stove out everyday because of ash cakes,cleaned it out today,after two days of burn time and the burn pot was clean as could be,no ash at all totally impressed,today it was 46°F and with the way its burning not even going to think about hooking my oak back up,I know here we will have more cold air to come probably frigid I hope so I can at least get rid of my 2 ton of pellets I'm still setting on,and at least try this heat tape method out.

I'd say less ashcake buildup, but less heat output, not sure if its the pellets or not using the OAK. I reattached the OAK this morning just to see if that affects the heat output, now giving it a chance to run with it connected.

I haven't noticed a difference of ash cakes. Most of it eventually falls out of the grate. The tube is probably 3 ft.
Peterfield,not saying don't use an oak,just asking questions about them and trying to figure out a way to get my stove to burn better with my OAK.
