I bought two bags at TSC Saturday. I put a bag in the hopper last night after the stove was off most of the day. Stove failed to start, smoked like crazy and now i can't get the glass clean. I probably only burned 2 cups of pellets while relighting and turning off the stove to clear the smoke. Pellets didn't burn well at all. Emptied the hopper and will try to return the other unopened bag. No clue why it all happened, has never happened with any other pellet in my stove.

Yeah seems most people don't like them. Tryed 8 brands this year and these seem to be the hottest, burn good for me.

Burned them last year and have 2 ton for this year. Burn ok in my Harman

Got some of these at TSC. 10 bags it was. They burned fine in my tractor of a stove.

Hi Gentleman,

I've burned ALOT of different brands over the last 6 years with Barefoot, Turman and LaCrete my favorites to this point.(the original Okies were my absolute fave but no longer available here). After finishing a ton of LaCretes got a great deal on a ton of Purefires and figured I'd try them. My stove is a Breckwell Big E that has the flu plates so I can manipulate the air flow in AND out of the stove and adjust precisely for each brand and it's burning characteristics.

The Purefires burned well without clinkers once I removed 1 flu plate allowing more air out of the stove. However, to attain the same heat and temp in the house I had to run the Big E on feed rate 4 out of 5 to achieve the same house temps as the LaCrete on 3 during the sub zero temps we've had in upstate NY. So we were effectively burning 2 bags a day vs. 2 bags every 1 1/2 to 2 days, consuming more pellets. The other downfall with Purefire was the inordinate amount of ash produced, which was ridiculous compared to ANYTHING I've burned on the lower end scale of quality, including Instant Heat, Agway clear bag and Green Supreme. As an example, the Turmans I burned last year would allow me one complete stove cleaning a month. At that point the ash box would be full. The Purefires had my ashbox overflowing after 4 days and 8 bags. I am not exaggerating, the box would be full and built up to the collar around the ash pot. I'd also have a 1/2 inch of ash laying in the exhaust pipe. That's WAY too much ash. I have no regrets as they kept my house warm when I could not buy anything else, but if I had a choice I would not buy these again.

Best regards,
Randi
