Woodstock preview stove

The tall shaker looks almost robot like if its tall enough could be nice.

As much asI love my PH. I am also not a fan of their steel stove design in regards to appearance. If they really want to appeal to a large swath of te market they would do good to take a look at the general appearance of most of the stoves on the market today and make something more inline.

Have you seen an IS in person? I didn't think I liked the design until I saw it in person & then I was sold. I'm picking it up tomorrow.

I should add that I think the new stove is pretty ugly. I saw the prototype when i was checking out the IS

I agree. That's why I ended up with one. Plain sides and tried to go with plain gears on the top.

Oh and the wings on the beta stove? Horrible.

Having met some of the folks at Woodstock . . . love them and the reports of their legendary customer service. Not a huge fan of their stove designs -- most of them look way too Victorian for me or way too modern . . . the one single exception being the Progress Hybrid . . . I do like that design.

There are but two things I am certain of:

1. The things of this world I love most, are most hated by this world.
2. The things of this world I hate most, are most loved by this world.

That being said, WS will likely sell a bazillion of the winged steel boxes ... and I shall never get a chance to own a soapstone cat-only stove with BK-like t-stat controls.

I love the look of my Ideal Steel, but only in the dark charcoal color. The dark colors keep the steam punk look under control . It's also in the basement hidden anyway.

This new stove. ... I just don't get it. However, it is going to be cleaner and easier to use. Probably cheaper as well. I'm sure it will gain popularity once they clean the look up a bit.

It's all about function for me. If I got one, it would be a two-tone wingless box. When I'm ramping it up I'm looking at what's going on inside, not at the stove itself. Once my stove is cruising, that's the end of me seeing it for the duration of the burn.

Looks like nothing more than a top down fire to me.

For sure. Watching the videos makes me think I need to get new kindling and some of the fire starters they are using. I'm also under the impression that draft inducers play a role in these quick starts.

Yeah I heard somebody say to turn on the fan. I imagine you could do it with the right kindling and a good draft.

I was wrong about draft inducer.

At first the Ideal Steel , I didnt like the looks but seeing all the different color combinations people came up with I saw some that appealed to me and it kind of grew on me. Not sure if the Franklin Stove inspired Hybrid stove will grow on me but time will tell.

I think their stove looks came from the need to design a hybrid stove under $2K. Not sure if the new stove will be under 2K but I am glad they are trying to make them affordable.
