My Harman Advance has been making the Auger drive noise since I bought used 4 years ago. It finally got to the point that it was rattling the whole stove.

I put a new motor in it yesterday, and now I can't tell if the auger is feeding without looking!! You mean they are supposed to sound like this?

Only thing I want around the house is the dog to growl. Tax appraiser hasn't been back in two years:) Did you by chance polish and treat the auger flights with some graphite or moly paint? Clean the room fan impellers to reduce vibration?

Mine sounds like a rotisserie motor . Eventually will replace it and keep that as backup..Glad it took care of the sound for ya. Did you go with a Harman OEM or ??

My P61a too. Couldn't swear it has always sounded like that since new, but couldn't swear it didn't. I can't hear it from the main floor anyway - but can here the clink of the pellets as they drop. The P43 is just starting up and I can't hear the auger on that one.

Earth Sense energy system, Dale WI. from Ebay. for $65. It's a Gleason motor, made about 10 miles down the road.

Just changed the motor, Didn't want to get into pulling the auger out.

I may see if I can find bearings and change them, the Armature has end to end slop and some side to side play.

If you do come across these bearings, please let me know where. I have a gleason motor that needs new as well. I'll let you know if i find them too.

I must admit that Earth Sense Energy Systems that you quote has totally surprise me with that quote. That outfit is known as the "pellet nazi" in this area. They sourced almost all of the sawdust available in the state of WI, back about 8-9 years ago, got contracts so that no one else could produce pellets. Then they couldn't produce the pellets, outsourced to others, made crap pellets, sold at almost the regular price. Pure scammers IMO.

Just a month ago a friend called me said he had a buddy that had bought a stove from them and it wasn't working good. I went out, looked at it, asked who installed it, the company did. I walked away and told him to get an attorney and sue them.

One of their stores is about a mile from my place, wouldn't buy anything from them since dealing with them about 8 years ago trying to buy parts and then hearing from locals what they have put them through.

Well if they are selling legit motors from a manufacture, I guess that would be a good buy, if not the it would be a good bye.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on things. I can honestly say that I have never had a problem buying from Ebay vendors.

As for bearings, I have a friend around the corner that rebuilds Electric motors. I plan on stopping by to see if he has any suppliers for them.

Ebay-paypal has a very good purchase protection policy. I have only once had a purchase with a bad product and seller did not respond and paypal gave me the $$ back
