Thermostat on enviro

2008 enviro evolution (ef5)
Has the 3 selector switch on the control panel.
Auto/hi-low/manual

If i connect a wall thermostat, can i still switch between the auto and manual modes? I notice the thermostat connection on the board has a jumper wire like most. So i am curious if i would need to replace the jumper if i decide to run in manual mode at times?

So in order to have it actually run in manual mode i would need to crank the thermostat up to a high setting to keep the circuit closed. Otherwise even with the switch on manual it would only run on low.

I just thought they would use a switch that would actually act as the jumper while being in manual mode.

No, switching it to manual will run in manual and the thermostat will do nothing, you set the heat level on the panel.
I was just pointing out that you can use the thermostat in hi/Lo mode to lock it in either hi or Lo, similar to the manual setting where it will run constant in either of those levels

Maybe this one is set up diff. As it sits, they have the thermostat wires from the board looped together. If i hook them to the thermostat the circuit would then be open until the thermo calls for heat. So if only flipping the switch would allow to manually control the heat settings why is the thermostat wires tied?

I am playing with it to figure it out. Was just hoping for easy answers

Yes i know about removing the jumper. I used a thermostat on my old stove. But this one has short leads instead of a jumper. But regardless, they are tied together so they are a jumper.
The thermostat connection needs to have that jumper installed in order to have control of the heat settings in manual mode. If i connect a thermostat, manual mode does not exist just by flipping the switch. Either i would need to crank the thermostat to act as a jumper or install the jumper back on the board.

I still think they would have used a better switch allowing the manual mode selection to act as the jumper.

I dont know maybe i just cant describe the situation clearly enough.. i have read the manual. I have the manuals in paper. I know how the controls work.

Without the jumper the stove will only work on low. With the thermostat installed, unless it is calling for heat that circuit is open wether the switch is in manual mode or not. In order for manual mode to have control over the stove that jumper needs to be in place. I dont think having to crank the thermostat or installing the jumper should be necessary when there is a switch for manual mode. Not a huge problem i guess. Just could be a better design where the manual selection on the switch actually created the jumper required.

Ok so i have confirmed my theory. If i have the thermostat connected, regardless if it is on or off, switching the stove to manual does nothing without cranking the thermostat or reinstalling the jumper.

If i only switch it to manual mode then it only feeds at the low setting.
