Best of 2 wood stoves

I have come down to choosing between two wood stoves in my price range and just wanted ideas on which would be the best choice. They both seem to have decent reviews online.
I have just a small 1000sq ft country bungalow so I don't need a big stove. My choices are Pacific Energy, True North....or the Heatilator WS18. Has anyone heard of either? Thanks.

Both decent stoves with happy owners. I think the TN20 is a bit less in cost.

Yes..about $200 less. It is 5 inches narrower as well but as with the Heatilator, it says it takes 18" firewood, although they have to be shoved in on an angle to actually fit.

My concern with True North is the steel. They brag about them being all 10 gauge (9/64). I have never heard of a wood stove under 7 gauge (3/16) before. For sure not a flat top one.

Don't know what they use in the Heatilator stoves. Never been able to find it anywhere.

The TN20 has a fairly square 18" firebox. The WS18's firebox is around 3" less deep than the TN20. It should just squeak in an 18" log loaded E/W, but I haven't actually tried.

Interesting. I thought the TN19 was 3/16" steel but maybe just the top?

In this budget range also look at the Englander Madison. It's 2.45 cu ft and less than either stove.

The only one they list it on is the TN20. Just .1 cubic feet larger than the TN19.

I have always wondered which parts of the BKs are 10 gauge and what parts are 1/4" 3 gauge.

The top is 1/4". I wonder how long they have been making the rest out of 10 ga, and how they hold up over the long haul with all the condensation going on at low burn. They probably do all right, though...

1/4" tops, 10 gauge sides BUT all areas subject to high temp are 1/4" (dome), 1/2" by pass plate and flue collars 1/4".

Haven't seen a TN20 yet in person. They still have the TN19 at the local hardware store.

Highbeam has a 30-NC.

1/4" top plate with a step bend and 3/16" stove body.

Didn't mean for that to post. The edit box stores unposted comments and I missed that. He has both 30NC and BK Princess. I forget which one he found was a bit under spec for thickness.

Well, you're welcome, but I didn't buy a BK.

I gotta have a grated ash system and will go to lengths to get one, including giving up other features that I might like such as a thermostat.

Looks like my next stove may have a welded box and a grate....those two features are hard to find together, I think.

I have a TN19 in my 1200 sq ft garage and it works great. Really simple stove that seems to have a good quality aspect. I have the blower on it as well.

I have a PE 27 in a 1500 sqft home and with good dry wood it'll get it up to 80*F no problem, the thing is a work horse!

My BK Princess is .25 on top plate. .14 on front. I expect sides and back to be the same but didn't measure, hot stove!

My TN19 firebox size is 16 inches wide by 12 inches tall by 20 inches deep.

20 inch log is pretty darn close to the window though.
