I think it was in the forum that I read that people were using sunflower seeds and soybeans as an alternative fuel.
I am sure that the manufacturer would not recommend it, but....
Has anyone used anything other than wood pellets in their stove?
If so, what? And are/were there any "side effects" from the usage?

im sure you can use cherry pits, corn, pellets or a mix with no problems, but you would have to alter your air i bet for better burning on different fuel.

The main side effect you will have is voiding your warranty if you have one. That said, you would be surprised at the things you can burn in your stove as long as the material is sufficiently dry and will make it through the auger without damaging it. I've never burned anything that wasn't mixed at least 75% pellets, 25% other material, but I've burned unshelled peanuts, dog food, Apple Jacks, and a big bag of stale pretzels.

Don't think I'd go to any of the above exclusively :), but they all burned just fine mixed in with pellets.
