does this reduce the efficiency of my stove? I know if you don't have enough air you get a poor flame wich results in not the total amount of possible heat being produced. What does too much air do? Pellets are not jumping out of my burn pot so I think I have it set right but just wanted to check? Thanks.

I know you are asking a question about air/fuel ratio but tell us what stove you have and you might get some help or suggested setting for your specific stove.
Too much air can either put out the fire or cause the pellets to burn at a rate that is not needed. You may get a little more heat but you will go through pellets quicker than needed.

It does not control the amount of pellets being fed, but if your flame and fire is burning like a forceful blow torch on high, the pellets will burn up very fast.
