It's Weird

Much the same here only about 35 miles west... not surprisingly.

I get a bit fidgety without a fire to look after.

Just glad this winter hasn't been quite as tough (here) as last.

In the sixties here for days....big wind storm yesterday took a big limb off a tree in my backyard and disassembled the trampoline. Kansas hit the eighties the other day.


Methinks we ain't seen nothin yet.

I got mine going, dampered the stove thinking its hot in here... Then I stepped out to go to work. WOW! I did not expect that! Well the dog and cat are at home thinking they are in the bahamas

Not a great day for burning wood, but a beautiful day to split wood. Hand split about a cord of mostly oak
and the rest elm that had been buried in the snow all winter. Time for a beer (Capital Amber) on the deck.

Yeah, I'm liking this weather, no need for fire tonight. Nice to have a break after that nasty January.

60s today and tomorrow. Severe thunder storms tomorrow with 55 mph winds, then going back to the upper 40s.
My stove's been down for days, but I fired it up today since I was working in the attached garage and wanted to take the chill off.
After running it 24/7 for a while and then stopping, it's difficult to break the fire tending routine. Sometimes, at night I'll be sitting there and think to myself "oh, I better go shut the air down before it overfires", then I think..."oh, it ain't burning".

Wow. What a day for February! Record high of 58 in Saginaw. No doubt plenty of places saw records broken today. It was so nice that I got out my bicycle and went for a 10 miler. The wood can wait.

The warm weather that was here last week must have reached you guys.
Loaded up the stove last night at 9pm. Up at 6am to 13F outside, 70F inside. Burning wood finally!

Spent the day picking up sticks in the yard and cleaned the flue. Nice midwinter break.

I'm actually more of a Lake Louie man myself. (Sorry for the ongoing local Wisconsin beer references for you non-cheeseheads)

Unfortunately, I had to go to my real job today. Would've much rather been splitting.

The fire is going again and I am happy!

We might need to have a Wisconsin hearth.com meet and greet later this year. The Roxbury Tavern has Lake Louie
on tap and isn't far from my woodlot.

Haven't had a fire for a couple of days...almost hit 70º today. Very nice weather for a change! I tried to get out and soak up every bit of it before we head back into the deep freeze! Of course the nice weather brought out all the global warming fanatics, too...funny article in the paper today...taxing cow farts to combat "global warming" how about $175/head/year? Are you ready for $5/gallon milk and $10/lb hamburger?

45ish in central NY today. Supposed to get to the high 50's tomorrow. I'll probably use up some of the little scrap pieces like the 1s and 2s I have saved up.
