Feeling the Heat

just noticed that when i turn the dial high the blower doesn't increase........makes the adjustment from low to medium but not medium to high....any suggestions?

I wonder if the potentiometer on the control board that controls the voltage to the fan is on its way out. It doens't make sense that the fan itself is the issue since it does work on low and medium.

hope not its less then 2 months old...guess i'm gonna find out how good my dealer is

Another possiblity could be the ESP probe I believe. If it's not sensing the heat properly it won't kick the fan up to high. You could try giving that a good cleaning first to see if it makes a difference before calling the dealer. Just use some Isopropyl Alcohol to wipe it down.

Easy way to find out. Disconnect the blower from the stove wiring, and run straight 120v to it with a set of "jumper/test leads". If it doesn't run on high then, you know it's the blower motor.

rap thanks for all the info.....dealer feels its a faulty ESP, also explained to him that the fire is very floppy/rolling type fire......he said the ESP is also the cause for that. things were smooth there for awhile but hey gotta look at it this way, something went wrong, called them and were very understanding and set up the service call....what else could i ask for right.

Hopefully your dealer comes through for you, but it sounds promising. Keep us updated HEMI.

depends on the stack temp, too... the blower will overide and go to high if you are burning it on higher settings..

burning it in stove temp at #4 and feed rate of 5....medium i would say?...tried going higher to heat the stove up more and see if the blower goes higher but just stays in medium mode....plus the fire has gotten very weak and floppy, not very active and stiff like anymore (can esp cause this to?)...i clean it every weekend and use lignetics so i would think neither of those is the issue, asked dealer about draft setting he said if it ignites quickly and i don't have dirty burn i'm good so i'll see what happens on thursday when they put in new ESP.

Can anyone tell me if cleaning the esp probe is something you should do regularly? Exactly how do you do this with the alcohol??

Part of my annual cleaning, and I use a rag with alcohol to wipe the ESP down.

Just curious. If you have the stove really cranking temp wise, but with the blower not coming on high, is it safe? Not trying to scare you, but im wondering if it would hurt anything? Does anyone know?

if i understand correctly......most stoves have sensors that won't let the stove overfire/overheat
