EGT to help tune stove??

Had a turbocharged car years ago that I used an exhaust gas temp sensor to help tune the car--anyone using or ever used a flue temp tapped in fairly close to the stove to help tune? Seems to me like it might help when tweaking the damper, outside air, etc.

Harman and maybe others do in fact utilize an exhaust sensor probe to automatically adjust fuel/air mixture but just how much computing goes on here might not be generally known..

How would you know what temps to shoot for? Just wondering?
 
No idea where to start-think it'd be more trial and error than anything. Just curious if anyone had tried it.
 
I would be more concerned with what temps you have comimg off the heat exchanger. Damper adjustment can be visualed by the burn. Lean is a light gray to white colored ash. Rich is black. I also watch the flames. Tall lazy with black tips is rich. A good rule is dancing pellets for top feeders. If the pellets are dancing in the burnpot and the flame is more like a torch the ash should be light gray to white colored.

I thought about tinkering with the EGT to see if the OAK lower the the exhaust temps. Haven't got around to it yet. Thats about all I think you would need to check it for. Unless you think you are blowing more heat out the vent and not into the room. But again I would not know what to shot for either.

If I get around to tinkering with the EGT to see what the OAK is effecting I will post it. I need to modify a spare Tee cap and mount a probe in it. I think I also need to order a longer probe to reach the gas stream in the tee.

Fun to tinker with, But probably not really necessary. But there is only one way to find out.
