I just started researching pellet stoves and I narrowed it down to St. Croix Afton Bay or Harman Advance. I like the way these stove look and I know they are of good quality, but are they to much stove for my needs. I have a 900 square foot open room with cath. ceilings and it sits above a garage. I only need it to heat this one room. Please help me make a smart buy.

I can't say between these stoves, But IMO you are better with a bit more stove than not enough stove! Most of these stove have no issues burning in the low heat ranges.

Can you recommend a good stove to get for this type of space:

-900 sq ft
-open layout
-cath. ceilings
-2nd floor room above the garage

I only need the stove to heat this space.

Cath ceilings = Larger stove! Tougher to heat a space with them IMO.
