I sit in my living room looking at my nice clean stove while the A/C is blasting. I pause and think about ordering my wood ..... stacking it .... cutting some of it to size. I think about the wholesome smell of wood burning, a toasty warm room and just all the other fun stuff with fiddling around with the stove. I think about my kids coming into the stove room with us instead of going out with their friends in the warm nights of summer.

I used to love summer more than any other season, but since I got my stove I relish the cold weather months more than the warm months. Am I getting old ? (55 years) I want the summer to be over with. What's wrong with me ? I never felt like this. I think I'm getting old.

Brother Get yourself an outdoor fireplace and burn some scrap wood. ;-P

Personally I'll take Summer over that cold crap any day! lol

Got a stove, am stacking wood now, just to stay warm outside. I love summer. Wish it would happen.

I love all the seasons . . . and never wish away the time or wish for another season . . . well maybe Black Fly Season. ;) :)

But if you really love wood . . . there's nothing wrong with ordering your wood or going scrounging so you can get a jump on next year's wood . . . in fact everything is a lot more fun when you're not in a mad rush to get your wood cut, split and stacked.

Oh yeah . . . if you truly need that wood rush having an outdoor campfire/ring/etc. is a nice way to keep your fire burning skills fresh . . . you can even amaze your friends with a top-down fire.

You need to move to the NW. I had my stove going all day yesterday. Tired of winter weather.

The only thing I see wrong is you're ordering wood.. stop moping around and go scrounge some yourself!! lol.

Near freezing last night, lit the stove to take the chill off. Today +17c , tonight we have frost warnings!!! Stove going again tonight.

If it was that cold in Mid-June......I think I might re-locate. :)

After 30+ years of burning...I'm happy to wait as long as possible. Your time will come Carlo.

Amen.

Can't believe some of you still got the stove burning ....wow.

I'm always looking for wood. A few weeks ago I went to the voting place and saw about eight beautiful 16" rounds by the trash bin (not sure what type of wood) and brought them home. Found some other wood elsewhere with termites in it and quickly threw that stuff away....lol

I guess I like summer still, but being a newbie to wood burning affords me a new feeling that I'm not accustomed to during the colder weather months. A feeling that many of you folks have probably grown accustomed to with all your years of burning wood. I guess my stove became my pal this past season and I miss her ...lol Oh well ...... scantily clad women, golf. good cigars and good scotch will get me thru the summer at least

Great day in the morning........ we are looking at +90 Friday! My boys like to split wood but too stinkn' hot for that!

There you go . . . see summer isn't all bad . . . plus you've got to have some point during the year when you can start processing your wood . . . and summer could be a great time for scrounging as many folks don't start thinking about getting a supply of wood laid up until the weather turns cool in the Fall.

I'm picking up my stove tomorrow - literally. The 90F stuff is going to make this for a looooong day. :\

I love summer. Wood burning is just a hobby to keep me out of the "padded room" in the winter.

I am patiently waiting for burning season too. But I have a LOT of patience.

I'll glance at the stove every once in a while and think it would be nice to see a fire in it. I'm really ok with burning season taking it's time getting here though!

Last season was my first year burning and I think it made the winter go by much better then previous years for me. It gave me something to do other then plow snow to keep busy!

i feel your pain carlo, last summer we had our new stove installed and had to wait about 5 months to start using it. it was a good scrounging year with lots of wood everywhere.it was also great to have stumbled onto this site. i enjoy the seasons because of the differences in how they feel but winter is definately the best, now with that said i must cut the oak branches ive had stacked up for the last few weeks so they can bask in the summers heat and sunshine. have a great day and enjoy the heat whyle its here. pete

Had a fire last night. It's 53 right now and I'm poking in the coals to see if they are still alive. Looks like the return of Juneuary this year.

By the end of burning season, I'm ready for it to be over - tired yet after a few weeks I'm also sadly wanting to fire it back up but it's in the 90's so I think not. I hate the cold and the wood burning as definitely as made it much more tolerable.

I think I would rather have one month of winter, one month of summer rotating; winter seems so long, and summer is so short. I think I could handle a miserable winter month knowing summer will be the next month, and I would be able to enjoy the wood stove with getting tired.

I'm wishing it was winter NOW. Not that I don't love summer, but I've got so much to do and no time to do it. I'll be happy when all I need to do is keep warm.

Seriously. Stuck in the 50's and low 60's with clouds and showers. Too warm for a fire, but feels plenty chilly. Wood burning nightmare. I ran one small load in the stove a couple of weeks ago, and overheated the house. I hate hearing the furnace run, but I hate wasting wood even more. I'm in no hurry for the burning season to return, I'm ready for some sun.

Had a low fire going all day yesterday. Cracked open a couple windows in the late afternoon. Let the fire die out in the evening. House was still 69 this morning, 53 outside. We are getting a few sunbreaks today so I will burn electrons if need be.
