Do you have a local dealer that carries both, and would they have the stove you are looking for in stock? I think if you can, seeing them in person really helps.
If you are leaning toward the Lopi though, check out their website, they have a mess of videos up there now on how their stoves were made etc, and I'm pretty sure they are all done with the endeavor.

Yes two local dealers with both in stock. Looking for what people like in both stoves, reputation, burn times, ease of use and anything else someone would like to share that would be helpful.

Choose the one you like best, you won't go wrong with either stove. The PE is noted for it's exceptionally long burn times. However, don't get the ash pan, it's not worth it. Not a big deal, the stove has a deep firebox. The Lopi has a bypass damper, which some people like for easier starts when draft is weaker. And it's a step top which some folks prefer design wise. At 448# it's a beefy stove.

There are dozens of posts on these stoves. Use the Search feature at the top left of the page to search on each stove name to locate them.

For us it came down to looks and the wife like the red Summit, (me too) I did not know about the bypass damper when I was looking at the Lopi which is a good feature, two good stoves that either one will serve you well.

Those would be my top two choices as well if I was looking for a medium size steel non cat. I guess great minds think alike. %-P Personally I'd pick the Lopi, I like the looks a little better and the bypass is a great feature.
