Getting ready to install wood insert this weekend. Any tips or kind suggestions are very welcome. Also, on the back of this stove is a small "combustion" air inlet - does that thing just remain open or unattached?

Thank you all in advance.

Inlet remains as is, its the air inlet for the 2ndry burn. That unit is fairly heavy, so when you are getting everything lined up in the fp, do yourself a favor and remove the firebricks and the doors, makes it easy to slaide in and out while you are wiggling a liner into it.

Welcome to the forum BLOWELL...you'll find a ton of useful info and friendly people to help you out here....unfortunately I had mine installed by my local stove company so i can't answer the install questions, but once you get up and running I can help you out with any operating questions you have about your new Kennebec...this is my 3rd year with mine and i love it.......

Thank you both for your responses. I figured the inlet remained as is, but the jotul literature seemed just a little unclear to me, so I wanted to be sure.

I have a friend helping with install, and yes, we did remove the firebricks and doors; no choice really, as we could barely move the darn thing with those items in and attached to the stove.

I will post again when I get it fired up - I CANNOT WAIT for the cold weather.

Thamks again!
