I got a call today from Yankee gas at work. We have interuptable gas service on the gas boiler and oil boiler backup/alternate. The asked us to switch to the alternate fuel source. They only do that when temps get well below zero. So as of today at 4:30 PM it will be using approx 600 gals of #2 per day until it warms up and we can go back to gas. The 12,000 gallon tank get sucked dry in 20 days or so. I want to convert it to pellets, But management isn't bitting. I wonder how many tons that puppy could eat in a week? :cheese:

I get to really test the blower/duct upgrade on my Omega this weekend. We also planned on getting some more fuel for the bunker, Guess thats one way to stay warm. 68 bags of restacking ought to work up a good warm sweat?

try not to work hard enough to sweat in these temps...you dont want it to condense and cool you off too much...only need the core temp to drop a few degrees to get hypothermia...ingest something with a very low freezing point to offset (100 proof should do nicely)

:cheese: gotcha! Same as I do for ice fishing. :cheese:

I'm ready, just cleaned the accentra and she's burning HOT. I see a consistent 50 degree increase out of the blower right after I clean it (I clean once a week).

I stay inside next to the warming device soaking up some soothing heat.

None of that stupid sitting in a shack on ice at 20 below for this Bear.

Stoopid Humans.

Too funny, I just finished cleaning my Accentra, and it's burning very hot. Usually do it on a Sat or Sun morning but I figured I'd get too it while it's not below 0 just yet. Just brought in 7 bags of LG's from the garage. I'm ready, bring it on.

I had to sleep with a fan the last two nights because the upstairs was at 73 in the bedrooms.

AND NO OIL!!! Yeah baby.

Bank, how do you like the Cleanfire? I bought 3 tons and I like them a lot, they burn pretty hot about the same as Hardwood Heat and the Stove Chow but not as hot as the Cubex I tried.

Supposed to get down to about -3 by Sunday night.....burning the Barefoots right now, but I'll dump the couple of bags of Cubex into the stove Sat evening and Sunday......BRRRRRRRR!

just went and got some Kero, stove sure is not going to keep up with it.. hate leaving the kero heater burning overnight, but I am probably going to have to..

I like'em, a decent middle of the road pellet. I got'em from pelletsales.com two years ago. Ash isn't too bad and the heat is very warm. I clean my stove once a week.. Going sledding tomorrow and didn't want to shut the stove down this weekend.

Cleaned the stove yesterday. Burning the Okanagans
for these super cold temps. Keep warm folks!

I'll be burning the Chows over the next couple of days when our low temps drop below zero. Guess I'll look forward to seeing some more frost forming on the combustion air intake vent with temps in the -6°F to -15°F range...

Wrap that OAK with some copper tubing and send some brew through it when it is frosty and enjoy a cold one ;-) .

Cleaning the stove tomorrow morning. I have Hammer Hot ones and Stove Chows. I will be burning the Chows as I have been all season. My upstairs was 87 degrees on level two when I woke up this AM at 5am. Had to lower it to level one. My son is walking around in his underpants and shirtless. currently 20 degrees and windy outside. Love it.

Was -32 this morning and the house was a comfortable 74 burning uncle jeds! Temp finally climbed to zero just before sunset and are now starting to drop again. :shut:

Hello

Yesterday and today in the afternoon the house was so warm we did not need heat. Also the pellet stove convection fan dumps out all the residual heat into the basement when the pellet stove shuts down, then our ductwork fan for 2 registers to the upstairs and the Entree Air Basement doorway fan dumps the residual hot basement air upstairs! Then the line voltage thermostat set at 74 deg F turns those fans off when the basement air falls below 74 deg F. Heck those fans ran for more than a couple of hours keeping the upstairs real cozy all afternoon!

Yesterday 25 Deg F out and today 32 Deg F out.

So I cleaned out the stove yesterday afternoon. Earlier this week I picked up 5 bags of Green Team at Lowe's for $3.74 per bag, I like that price and good pellets too. However tonight I dumped in a bag of the Good ole Logik-e also sold as PWI for good measure.

Forecast here is for -6 in the morning! See Forecast chart below.

I don't think we've seen below zero temps in the two years we've been here. I went down and checked the oil tank and it's still just below 1/2. I haven't put any in in three years. I'm sure my little stove will be cranking. I'll do a good cleaning tomorrow and we'll be as ready as we can be. Bring on the cold...I think?

I froze my patutty last night in the Peterbilt Hilton... it was +7 in Chicago but I went to bed with the truck's sleeper door slightly ajar... even my diesel-fired bunk heater couldn't keep up.

I was at my home office tonite in Rhinelander, WI and they told me it was -25F in the woods last night... brrrrr.

Currently 6 degrees here in Ohio, and I have the Gas furnace going , theres no way the pellet insert is going to keep the place warm in this weather. I have the Quadrafire on its lowest setting just to help the furnace out a little is all.. Monday will see temperatures going back up a bit, so the furnace wont need to run but maybe a few times a day to keep the far end of the house warm.

Cleaned the stove yesterday. (Deep clean, with leaf blower trick) We too have the Entreeair Doorway fans. Amazing what those little things will do for moving air and evening the temps out. It was -3 this morning according to my outdoor weather station when I got up for work at 5 this morning. Normally run on low heat high fan. Last night was Medium heat High fan. went to bed 75 degrees, woke up 74. Wasted a lil more fuel on Med. But well worth it to wake up toasty and warm. 0% Propane burned this year. And I pick up my Fahrenhiet Endurance (Furnace) Today after work. Woo Hoo. Take That Ferrel Gas Co!!!

It's -2*F and I figure it will drop another degree or two at sunrise; heat pumps are set @ 71* downstairs and 70* upstairs, and got my Accentra insert set on 73* and neither of them seem to be working too hard... My last electric bill just arrived and I used 3336kw for a 3000ft.aq. housethat I fully heat...

if you like those little doorway fans, wait till you try these

i dont sell them i just use them.

0 degrees here and the pdvc is keeping up on 6-9 but my house is insulated with snow. for some reason whenever it snows the house is way easier to heat, i guess it stops those drafts. i may need to bring it up to 9-9 soon because the temp is supposed to drop ever further but not until it gets a good cleaning which i plan on doing today. looks like i got this hopper extension just in time for the real cold.
