How do you seal black single wall flue pipe without getting the furance cement all over the pipe? I was thinking of using Mill-Pac black. Will most furance cements wipe off easily if it squeezes out of the joints?

No need to seal the pipe. Just make sure that it assembled correctly, male (tapered) ends facing the stove.

I changed the pipe layout (more joints) when I changed my stove and I am now loosing some draft at the joints and I need a tighter seal.

I took a old putty knife and bent the tip. With that I can apply cement fairly evenly. You just softly push down onjoint with putty knife but be careful to not put to much cement on knife. The cement hardens quickly so trick is to do it right the first time.
The excess cement will not remove easily after a few seconds.
