With oil prices up, I'll be burning wood for DHW all summer this year. I normally like to take a break from the wood boiler for a spell, but not this year.
One good firing every three days usually does it.

How many people is that DHW for?

I use to fire every 3 days also but last September I got a Geyser heat pump from Tom in Maine and love it. In fact it's already going to keep my basement dry as the spring thaw has started and I do get a bit of water in the basement. It's good for up to 50 pints a day and provide A/C to my new man cave down there.

Since I've had my unit installed, we've used it for DHW in the summer. Go start 1 fire every 4 to 5 days, walk away and leave it. Usually 4 days, but do hit the 5th every once in a while. Got 3 teenagers, but they do take shorter showers. Funny how that works :)
