Out watching for meteors last night. We saw quite a few. All were fairly faint and short, but still fun to watch. The Milky Way over the farm around midnight:

Pretty picture.....nothing like a clear night to see all the stars....BTW...Milky Way is my super favorite candy bar.... :cheese:

That's a beauty quads. I love the night sky. August 12th should be the night of the Perseids. Hope we have some clear weather then. I like to set up a comfortable lawn chair and just gaze.

Thanks! I love the night sky too. Tonight is another crystal clear night and am heading back out shortly. I look forward to the Perseids every year, my favorite meteor shower. Unfortunately the moon will be bright then this year.

very nice picture. love watching the stars and seeing things move in the night sky.

Thanks! Me too. If you look real close in the upper left corner of the picture, and if your monitor gamma is adjusted correctly, you can see two very faint parallel trails from the Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower. Which is really what I was looking for that night!

Nice picture quads. Do you get to see the northern lights much over there on your side of the pond?

We used to see the northern lights a lot. But haven't seen them now for over a decade. I would like to try to take their picture someday!

quads, sometimes early to mid August can be some northern lights. Stay up to watch for them but don't forget that you still have to get up to milk those cows in the morning.

HA! Yup, some nights I was still up at milking time in the morning. Was up quite late last night, but didn't see any Northern Lights. They say tonight will be the greatest chance of having them, so we'll see.....

Awesome photos! hearing you talk about milkng cows reminds me of growing up on dairy farm.....Every morning at 4:30am starting at about 9 years old my dad would come up the stairs open the bedroom door and say time to make the donuts....Finally I asked him what in the world he was talking about and he just chuckled said when he was growing up his Swedish grandmother would get him up at about that time every mornign to make the donuts for the local diner in town.

And here I thought it was just the old Dunkin Donut commercial.
