We have a cold windy day forecast here tomorrow........ and Mrs Woodchip is mumbling about feeling chilly.

Something tells me we might light up tomorrow, just for the evening.

I had hoped to go through to October, at least we have plenty of dry punky stuff to get rid of..... ;-)

No, mid eighties and humid today. Downright tropical yesterday. Actually it was disgusting outside yesterday. Probably looking at sometime late September or early October. A few remnants of tropical storms heading up this way in the next few days, probably more humid weather to go with it.

I've been tempted today 57* right now with low of 48* forecast for tonight. I think I'll resist the urge for a while longer though.

rdust, I just looked at the Saginaw forecast (I realize you have to go by Flint) and 57 was the high and expecting 43 tonight. Our thermometer hit 59 today but is headed down already. I was working outdoors most of the day and had to wear gloves and for a time even wore an extra shirt. Felt good too. But I did not bring in any wood for the stove.

LOL @ BV.

No :)

Lit up last night and probably will again tonight or tomorrow morning. Forecast low of 40 tomorrow morning and I have plenty of shoulder season wood to burn up so I might as well burn it. Maybe I'll shoot a short video to rub it into some of yous guys.

Yep, just touched her off to season the new pipe & damper setup, as well as burn off anything funny smelling while the windows are open. No issues & all is working well. May burn a quick fire in the AM as well low 40's forecast overnight here. Cut 2 full loads today, & it felt great! A C

I've thought about it a few times. Then remembered I was cold because everyone in the ouse but me prefers it to hang somewhere about 60 degrees, which is sweater weather for me.

I just wait until they're all asleep and turn the AC off.

I had my second burn this morning when I got home from my parade detail before I went back to work. Mostly doing it because we are still seasoning the stove but also because I can!

Rose !! Welcome back, hun !!

The wall thermostat says 65°, which would NEVER be acceptable in the winter. Supposed to be 70° tomorrow, so no way that I'm building a fire.
I did enjoy the cool temps and lack of mosquitoes today, though. Made a lot of progress on the masonry chimney destruction to make way for the new BK install ;-)

jeff_t, .....exactly. It was 63 in here this am, and all I could think of was that in the winter, I would be reloading the stove.
Time to put on the thermal hoodie.

We have the remnants of TS Lee coming tonight into tomorrow, no stove lighting in the near future as I can see it. I do sense some ithcy fingers out there... :)

I did lite a small fire last wednesday to test the stove after some minor repairs and a chimney sweep. Good to go!!

You're supposed to get some frost tonight??
We're going to be in the low forties tonight - first burn for us.
My wife is looking over my shoulder & making fun of me as I type this......

not even close yet. been mid 60s here all day and felt somewhat cool out but couldnt even imagine having a fire yet. there will be a lot of that to come shortly but i'm not ready for that yet. tstat reads 76 still. hoping to hold out till 1st of october

its 57 here as we speak. I lit a Fire off last night, but that's because I just installed the Englander 30 yesterday.

I am getting things ready for when the Wife goes to bed. I have windows open in the basement and upstairs. I took a Vacation day for tomorrow because I thought my install would take 2-3 days. I finished buttoning everything up this morning. So now I have a day to Tinker and play while the Wife and kids are away.

I have an assortment of wood downstairs (3-5 splits of 4 different species) and Copious amounts of adult beverages in a cooler. I'm ready. Locked and Loaded. Just need her to go to sleep... Its getting cold in the house. My evil plan is working... Moo-ha ha hah ha haaaaa.....

Nice looking burn. I notice you have the GOLD trim on your stove - my Englander has it too - VERY UPSCALE.....

I know my Woodstock and some of them other expensive fancy dancy woodstoves don't offer this valuable trim.... ;)

Keep us posted. I think there are going to be a bunch of Englander 30 new owners reporting in this burning season, including myself.

Good luck,
Bill

Rock on, Dex, rock on :)

I lit the Englander tonight with some aged scrap 2x4s just to take the chill off and help some aching joints.

Windy and in the 50s.........
Back to the upper 70s by weeks end

I think this might be the first time, in my life, I have actually wanted it to get cold. Normally I detest winter (especially the SNOW, god I hate snow. It was fun like the first five times and then the shine VERY QUICKLY wore off as I dug my car out at six in the damn morning and the sun set at 4:30...) but I am getting REAL tired of hearing the whine of the A/C. Though my old furnace is even worse. White noise makes my ears ring something awful and the stove just seems so QUIET by comparison!

Dex, I am forever pestering my husband to come check out the picture-perfect load I've got going or the cool color the salt from the driftwood is making or see the flames shoot out the secondaries. He is generally less than enthused. Maybe he'd get into if I got him on the forums... =P

Thank you for the welcome back, Dixie!

The geese are flying over head, heading in your guys direction as I type. Your turn will soon come.

That's okay north. We like to see the geese too. Getting ready for hunting season now, but not for goose season. It is deer around here.
