Anything under 74F and the wife starts her rant. Boxer shorts, t shirt, no covers for me. she has flannel sleepwear on, a comforter and and another blanket. In the day, she has that bulky house robe, I stay dressed about the same. (I promise, no pics) When we were on oil heat, 70F was OK.

Yup, I have to admit that I like it warm too, 73-75 degrees! The pellet stove is in our sitting room where the TV is. I am also known to occasionally take a short "nap" in my recliner during the evening. And yes, when I go to the back of the house (kitchen) it is cool so sometimes I turn up the gas furnace to warm up the back of the house. But we do sleep cool, during the winter the bedroom is usually about 55. (no heat at all in that room, only what comes through the doorway)

When I read how high a lot of the members here keep the temp at, I got really excited about the prospect of getting a pellet stove, since my family are uncomfortable when the stat hits 70. I like the notion that I'll likely save money by heating with a pellet stove and save some more by not having to burn as much to keep the temp at our comfort level of 68. Stove should be installed and running in the next couple of weeks, just as winter is approaching. Keeping my fingers cross that my pellet stove is the answer to my winter propane bill.

Then you gotta get nastier. Penalize them a 5 degree drop in the thermostat per day for every minute the keys are not returned. A word of caution, it'll be inevitable that things will also be frigid in the matters of the bedroom if this method is utilized. There's always a sacrifice.

I tried many years ago to put a cover over the stat, came home one day to find a bag of frozen peas balanced on top, with the furnace burning merrily away. Decades of marriage have taught me one thing, just say yes dear.

Disable the pellet stove and the oil heat. Should not be long that they will be begging for 70.

Oh I have the ceiling fans even talked about adding more and had an argument with wifely she said she didn't want ceiling fans all over the house so its just the two for now. I'll be adding one more.
Everyone gave each other a cold in the house Its somehow my fault from the temp changes in the house! I also got the bug from all there snot rags and touching everything with the diseased hands i knew that would happen.

I couldn't even believe she wondered out of her new women cave and came outside to the garage where I was with a friend starting up a new electric Generator so I have back up power to keep the heat and some lights on. We even spoke and then she saw all the pellets stacked in the garage and even brought one in I couldn't believe she lifted one and cared it into the house so I now I know somethings wrong.

Even The kids asked if we I could put stoves in there rooms. I explained to them Its to big and strong and if I installed one in the rooms that so much heat would cause permanent brain damage that it would melt there brains and drip out brain juice from there ears. I explained that I think thats what happened to mommy thats why she's acting crazy!

LMFAO!!!

You, sir, have a way with words. Ever think about standup comedy? You could charge money for this stuff.

It not funny one of those little Rats told mommy "daddy said she had no brains left" and offered to look in her ear to see if there was Brain Juice!
Somehow it didn't come out quite the way I said it to the kids and mommy is now mad!
She looked at me and her eyes were popping out like one of those POP Eyed Goldfish!
Oh I'M Screwed I also heard "Your stupid no your stupid you have no Brains left".... "Mommy brains are melted Naa Naa"...oh It continues!
I now will have to sweat my butt off watching some stupid TV show in that 80 degree room tonite with my sweaty arm around Mad momma and my feet in two compound buckets filled with ice Just to show where a happy Family! I would be more comfortable outside then in that heat but they love it its like there addicted to heat NOW!
I just wanted to save a few Bucks and at this rate its going to cost me more!
Again the thermostats where up higher Its like they sleep walk in the middle of the nite and go to the thermostat!
I never heard of sleep walking to a thermostat! Somethings not Right here!

Omg I love this thread! Funniest chit I ever read on this forum.
Glad to hear your family likes the stove anyway.

Who pays the bills in your house? (not intended as a smart-ass question)

I had the same discussion about the ceiling fans...I don't want ceiling fans in every room, they don't look good!! Personally I like them, but probably not gonna win this time!

Crank up the a/c don't get me started there window units and there out now but in the summer months my electric bills are close to $300 a month. My one kid Mike Jr keeps it so cold sometimes he turns blue did you ever carry a frozen kid to your wife and ask where should I defrost him? Then I get why did I let them run the a/c so cool like its my fault! When they get sick its always my fault to cold to hot. What the hell did I do I just supply them with the best I can I can't watch them 24/7. Then I'll hear the units to strong!
One day I was pissed after the electric bill came in I went out and bought flash lights for everyone turned off all the lights and demanded they use the Flashlights. Oh wifey loved that one she just smiled one of those calm cynical smiles eyeballs stayed in here head like she knew something go ahead.
Well she was right That plan backfire quickly did you ever hand little kids flash lights and turn off all the lights? The house turned into a Disco I just tried to make a point they thought it was great and now wanted to keep the lights off all the time. I had to take all there flash lights away and turn back on the lights. Another failed plan!

The Stove is great good investment can save you a few bucks pay for itself in a few years thats what everyone told me sure why not. Not with my family.
I bought the Generator because wifey figured That we could all die if the power went out for a few hours and she had no heat. Another couple of thousand! In the end the heat still gets turned up on the other zones, took 1/4 of my man cave away with 100's of bags of pellets in garage, Lost my favorite recliner in my favorite TV room , Lost the control of the TV remote, lost my wifey to the couch with the stove and spend half my nites loading pellets. I love my mew Stove!

Thanks for this thread!! Glad to see I am not alone!
In our house they look at the temperature BEFORE they decide if they are too hot!
Need to put tape over the display and write 72 on it!
The first year with the stove oil was $4.60/gal; temp was -25; living room was 78 and my Wife was too hot!!
I was toasty thank you!
