I am told that the Dauntless has changed quite a bit since 1987 and these gas conversion kits are no longer available.

Contact your local VC dealer’s service department. Give them the unit’s serial number. They may be able to assemble a conversion kit for you.
I was surprised to find out that the local VC dealer did not know that Dauntless ever sold a gas conversion kit.
My living room Dauntless has a gas conversion unit - photos minus logs and grate are attached.
I would like to convert my basement Dauntless to gas - photo of the floor panel is attached.
I will follow-up with photos of the gas conversion unit when it's out.
A good VC Service Department recommendation would be appreciated, thanks.
