Very sad to hear. Another reminder to all about fire safety. Never forget that us wood burners are literally lighting a fire inside of our homes every day. IMHO you can never be too careful.

Sounds to me that the baby and the blankets were right next to the wood stove, unattended...how can an adult, charged to care for a 4 month old, leave it alone lone enough for the fire to get that intense? How about grab the baby and bring it outside, hand it off to a neighbor, then start splashing the stove with water like an idiot

. This is less about fire safety and more about criminal negligence. Same as the 4 year old who found a LOADED .22 in his grandfathers room..where the kids were all playing..including a toddler in a play pen..of course, the 4 year old kills the toddler.

Do we need to tell people that guns or fire or hot coffee dangerous? Christ. It hurts my heart when a kid gets hurt or killed because the adults who they are FORCED to spend time with either don't care or are so inept they should be locked in a rubber room with others of the same...blah. Such a sad thought, a 4 month old burning to death. Poor little thing.

Most regulations today are us doing just that.
Darwin sometimes takes the innocent to prove his point...just how it works.
What the real kicker is that the people who causes the problems are rarely punished.
