Air Duct Damper ?

Ok lets start with this,I have a US Stove co hotblast( https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/29764/ ) set up outside.. It is piped into the two duct lines in my mobile home with 8 inch round duct pipe.So the drunk guy that installed it made flapper type dampers that never did seem to work right..I replaced one 2 years ago due to the fact it was not sealed and heat and air was blowing under my house...I replaced it with a manual 8 inch round damper..

Now on to the problem...Whenever I decide it is time for a fire I need to go underneath the house and open both dampers and once that is done we cannot use the electric heat until I go back and close them.. So I did some research and found these.... http://www.smarthome.com/307109C/8-...ir-Duct-Damper-with-Power-Supply-ZC108/p.aspx Now I was just going to use the the wires and thermostat I installed for the draft motor to control the new dampers but I thought I will still have to be here to open or close them..Or am I just confused???

My goal is to set my heat up so I can have a fire and if I am gone to long and the fire dies out the electric heat will kick on and the dampers will close and keep the heat in the house..Anyone with any thoughts???

Motorized duct dampers are used in many homes. Get a decent quality one and it should work. However, I do have some safety concerns. What if the power fails or the damper doesn't trigger due to a motor or wiring failure (thinking field mice here)? I would be concerned about rapid overheating of the furnace which could be a dangerous condition.

For this reason I would also investigate a simple, weighted, or spring-loaded duct damper that swings open when there is air pressure against it. But seals shut when the pressure comes from the opposite direction. Whatever you get, be sure it is of good quality and reliable. Your life may depend on the safety of this installation.

Also for giving me reason to rethink this yet again .... I am thinking that the blower motors wont have enough power to open a spring loaded damper but the one with the weight counter balance looks just right... http://www.ventproducts.com/catalog/3/21

We have not had any cold enough weather until this past week and I want to say these are working great!

When I was under there I found that the first installer did not even connect the pipes they were just pushed up to each other...No wonder the electric heat and air don't work,it all just blows out under the house... Now that I have sealed it all up the heat pump works as it should and hopefully the ac will cool the house down next summer....I have one of these http://www.ussunlight.com/store/solar-powered-attic-fan-9910tr.html to install to help with that..............
