Agreed on cherry. Save some for the smoker, especially if it's rare in your area. Here it grows like a weed, so I am very blessed to never want for smoker fuel.

Wow hand splitting this stuff is not easy. Between this and the elm, I’m starting to shop for a splitter. All the ash I started with spoiled me.
