I read the books and been watching the streaming series, I was hooked from the first season. It unfortunately has the reputation of the best sci fi series that no one has heard of. The last episode is tomorrow on Amazon Prime and it looks to be a good one. Its not a typical Star Trek world, they spend time to get the physics right and far more realistic than a lot of other series. (noise does not travel in space and newtons law of motion does apply to spacecraft) It is a diverse cast but far less "woke" than Star Trek discovery that goes out of their way to check off the all the "boxes".

If you havent heard of the Expanse and have access to Amazon Prime, it is worth a binge session. Unlike a lot of shows it is not in a rush to show the entire plot in one episode, it builds slowly during the first few episodes and eventually the apparently diverse threads start to come together.

The TV show only covers the first 6 books, the 9th and last book came out in late last year. It was satisfying conclusion to the entire series although the TV series looks to come to satisfying conclusion of its story arcs.

And of course there is always "that guy" Amos and later on Bobbi who are both endearing characters, dont mess with either ;)

I'm a fan. Binge watched the first 5 seasons & am about 4 episodes into the 6th. The wife is not a Sci-Fi fan, so I hafta wait til she goes to bed in order to watch any shows of that genre. I am a trekker from TOS & like Discovery & Picard, but I could do without the "WOKE" crap. Just started "The Book of Boba Fett" on Disney +. Only finished the first episode, so I can't say whether or not it's any good. Really liked the Mandalorian, too.

BTW, for season six they have additional bonus scenes hidden away. I cannot get them on my Roku but when I log into Amazon Prime on my laptop and view and episode on my laptop, there is an option for bonus features and the bonus scene for the episode shows up.

I really liked both the series and books . . . although I never did finish the book series.

I watched the first two seasons when I was recovering from a hospital visit in 2019. My wife and I have been watching it for the last few weeks. The whole time we've been watching I assumed there was also a book series behind it all. I'm glad to have more material once we finish the show. It's begging for a video game adaptation.

What do you mean about "WOKE" stuff? The Expanse is literally class struggle in space.

I am using the pejorative (cynical) definition of "woke", the one I use is the medias tendency now to include the diverse character of the week on shows. Star Trek Discovery seems to use that approach, add and spotlight diverse characters just to check off the box. The addition does not necessarily add to the story line. With the Expanse there is diversity as a matter of course but it is not particularly spotlit as it not needed to develop the story.

Big fan. Sad to see the show come to an end, but it is time to finish up before it gets stupid. Seasons 1-3 are the strongest and most addictive, in my opinion.

I am 2 episodes back this season and then the finale. All good things must come to an end.

I was referring to Star Trek: Discovery.
All Star Trek is "woke". TOS had the first on screen interracial kiss. The premise of Star Trek is that Earth has become an egalitarian/socialist utopia and space is the next step. Politically the show is very progressive and I've heard some call it "leftist". Picard is a bit different than the normal formula, and I really like that. I've only seen a few episodes but I plan on going back to it.

Well, after watching the final episode, I have to say it was a good ending for the TV series. I know the books go on for much longer, and this episode leaves all those avenues open.

Overall, they hit all their marks in the finale. The Expanse has some of the best space battles I have seen on television and the big screen - the pacing of the action, the way they show the battles and characters has always been the best, and this episode didn't disappoint.

I agree, a satisfying conclusion but enough teasers to the last 3 books that it may not be the end. I did like how they wrapped up the political aspects rather than ending up with a big battle.

We are close to the end of season five! Definitely my favorite show for a long time, and definitely one we will watch over and over.

Make sure you check out the bonus features on season 6 (only way I coudl see them was logging directly into my amazon prime account, starting the episode and then clicking on bonus content) and the Ty and that Guy (Wes Chathams) you tube videos after each episode.

We are using a fire stick and our laptop, so should be easy to find. I'll definitely check out the youtube videos as well. I am hoping for more seasons after the books are done. I also see so much potential within the "universe" of the Expanse. Plenty of room for stories with other crews fighting the class struggle.

I will add that Game of Thrones was in a similar situation adapting books to TV and then having to wrap it up for a TV ending and they @#$%^ the bed royally. So kudos to the writers of the Expanse for not doing the same.

We've been avid fans here. Watched the final last night. Good ending and yes, I think they will be picking it up again. Heck, they just revived Battlestar Galactica.

Wait, another Battlestar reboot? I watched the mini series when it came out several years ago. I tried to get into the serialized show that followed, but I usually fell asleep while watching.

Likewise, it didn't hold my attention after awhile.

I just canceled my Paramount Plus subscription so I will miss out on the complete Star Trek Discovery season, I do not regard a half hour cartoon (Prodigy) and acceptable replacement.

Too bad the studio that owned Babylon Five lost the high resolution files of the series, good show but the resolution and format available on TV (and I think everywhere else) is crap.

Every corp now wants to have their firehose sucking on your credit card. It's ridiculous and bound to encourage 7 day trials when they only have a couple things that you might be interested in. If these programs end up on DVD that we can check out of the library, then maybe I will get to see them. Otherwise, it's not going to happen unless they smarten up and start bundling or get taken over.
