Our dog always dons her appropriate PPE before approaching the woodstove. Rick

Is that truly PPE or is she just wearing the tinfoil hat to foil the aliens and their brainwave-reading apparatus? :) ;)

It's multi-purpose gear, Jake. We all wear 'em, even if we're not going near the stove. Rick

I love the pet stories. My black lab lays in front of the stove on occasion. The sheperd doesnt care for the heat. She is the one that melts her fur on occasion while trying to race out the door. Stove it right next to our entry way door.

I have a 1year old pitbull (oh my goodness did he say pitbull!!! ha ha!!) Our woodstove is in the basement and is connected to the hot air ducts. Anyways he lays on the floor right in front of the air duct. He actually lays against it and completly blocks the air flow. I told my wife the other day that I think he may spontaniously combust. He is a great dogs, especially with my three young children (9, 6, 4,2 yrs)
