Does anybody know if asian bush honeysuckle makes decent firewood? I know it is extremely tough stuff and is pretty hard to cut by hand. The larger stuff gets to 4-6" diameter and 20ft tall

    Never heard of it.
If it's free & easy to get:
    It's wood.
    It's BTUs.
When seasoned & dry; it'll burn & produce heat ;)

    Try it :)

Looks like you need to take one for the team and tell us how it burns.

Burned some today in the outside pit, it burns better then the silver maple of the same diameter but not as good as the honey locust that I have (as far as heat and longetivity). It was a bunch of 2" diameter stuff, counted about 10 rings per inch.

Only reason I ask is that there is a huge amount around here and I will be clearing some of it out this winter. They are usually limbless for the 2+" diameter section and it would be trivial to cut once or twice more and collect it to burn.

That stuff is so invasive, I hope it is good firewood. If you keep cutting it, maybe it will die!
