Hello... My wife is concerned that were are burning more pellets than we have in the past.
Last year at the end of the season i bought a ton of summersets on craigslist for a great price. I burned some and had about 28 bags going into the this season I bout another 25 bags before we really started burning. We began heating in October and at the end of December had about run out of my small stash. I bought a ton of pellets from a company who just started making them locally. I ran out of them the last week of January. So this past weekend I picked up 6 bags of dry creek to tide me over as i look for a good price on my next ton ( prices have gone up here... $255 for barefoot). I have burned 2 tons for $400. Thats not bad but the winter has been so mild my wife thinks we should be burning much less.. the stove is on low on thermostat when we are not home and at night.. The only thing i noticed was the ton of pellets purchased locally had very low btu's so i had the feed rate higher so naturally they burned much quicker. On low with those pellets would keep the room the stove is located between 65-69 degrees. Where as the dry creek I am burning now keep the room between 71-75 degrees.
I guess what I am asking is am i consuming to many pellets in this mild winter or am I right on par with everyone else?
