I have a Nashua wood stove with a 8" flue and want to know if it can be reduced to 6"? The chimney is very tall and goes through the middle of our 2 story home. It is brick and lined with tile. The stove is a rather large stove. Please help me out.
Thanks, Curtis

My old free standing fireplace was 8in, and my new wood stove is 6in...I used a incresser to go from 6 to 8 and have zero problems...good luck!

Generally that is not a good idea. The reason the manufacturer set that stove up for 8" is because it needs that much draft. There is a huge difference in volume between 6" and 8". Some have done it with some luck but most find it doesn't work very well. As for code, it all depends on how the code was written.

Going from 6" to 8" will work better than the other way around but usually going from 6" to 8" you will have more creosote problems.
