I have a cant hook (timerjack) from Northern that is basically useless.
I saw a Stihl one a the dealer that seemed a little pricey (~$100) for
what it was. Saw a few on Ebay that were a bit more in line a far as
price.

One has an option for 6 1/2' instead of 5'.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

A 4' should be all you'll need and I saw those around $80 in an Ace Hardware. (4' is what I use too.)

I had a bigger cant hook that broke so I replaced the handle with a 7-8' length of Ash... It was pretty handy for twisting trees that were just a little hung as they tipped off the stump. I only take it along when cutting in pretty solid woods where there are not many side branches.

I also have a 3-3.5' hook and 'Felling Lever from NH that ilike for smaller stuff. I do find myself taking that along when cutting several trees.

Enjoy,
Mike

I took the jack part off withing the first 10 minutes of trying to use it.

The hook part just doesn't grab the wood like other models I've used.
Maybe it's time to get the grinder and file going.

I shredded a tire on my splitter Tuesday and couldn't get it on the trailer with the shredded tire on the rim tried about everything final put the timber jack to it and pop it right off. may not use it much but saved my butt on that one!

I bought mine from my local saw shop..expensive $89 but I will ahve it for life. 4' I believe.
I bought a timberjack from TSC for $30..piece of crap.
