This is slightly off topic since this liner is for my oil fired boiler chimney and not my wood stove, but I expect that there are some similarities when it comes to quality.

I have a (approx) 20 ft straight run through a clay lined brick chimney. One guy is telling me that their double-wall stainless liner with a smooth surface on the inside wall is the way to go because a single wall, non-smooth liner would somehow be more subject to corrosion and rot out in 5-10 years (I am not sure why any quality stainless would ever corrode).

My thought is that it is just a way to sell something different than the competition. They say they make their own liner and provide a lifetime guarantee. The piice is also competitive.

Opinions regarding single vs double walled uninsulated liners?

Thanks

The double wall liners I'm familiar with are uninsulated, but the inner wall provides a smooth surface. I personally use these for oil furnaces (especially EK System 2000 boilers!!) because they do work better IMO. Oil furnaces like them. Also, given sizing requirements for oil furnaces sometimes it is possible to use a smaller liner if it is smooth wall and maybe not have to break/remove the flue tile.
