i was wondering if i can get some advice on the most efficient way to place our chimmney for our wood stove??

we have two options:

first is placing the stove and the chimney in the center wall in our family room that when the pipe is placed it comes out directly out the house and straight up to the peak of the house (no bends or turns)

or

second is placing the stove and the chimney in the corner of out family room, having the pipe take a hard left then up the side of the house to them follow the roof line to the peak then upfrom there.

we were by one person to do it the first way in order to get a good draft and not to have any or to many lefts and rights.

with the other one it was told to us that in order not to have about 100ft of pipe sticking out from the top of the house that we could do it that way toooo... but the guy that told us to do it with option #1 said we could not get a good fire with option #2.

any recomendations on what to do?

thanks
-Cristine

The fewer bends that you have in your chimney, the better for draft and for creosote reduction. Also, the more of the chimney piping that you can keep inside, the better as well.

If you centrally locate, it will heat the home more evenly also.
