can you take a VC encore with a 8" oval flue collar and get an adapter to run it from 8" to 6" chimney pipe? if you can, are there any draw backs?
 
Yes, I believe you can either get a 6" flue collar or an oval to 6" round starter piece.

The only issue is you can't run it with the doors open.
 
You should be able to find the adapter fairly easy.
