Someone posted a link in one of my posts about using a kind of silicone tape instead of silicone caulk for sealing the counter flashing on a class A chimney. I cannot seem to find the post. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

I can't find the post. But silicone caulk is one heck of a lot cheaper than silicone tape. I use the tape a lot where I need to, but the caulk where it is more appropriate. For flashing on chimneys for sure.

Thanks for replying. I think the "tape" was silicone but really am not sure. I just remember the link directed to a source to purchase this "tape". I have been curious to read more about the product but cannot find it.

That is butyl rubber backed tape. Not silicone. Should do fine that far up from the stove.
