VC wants me to remove the collar every year to clean out the ash that collects in the rear baffles. Unfortunately, I can't
do this without pulling
the whole stove off my hearth, which isn't gonna happen. Is there any other way to get back there?

Vacuum hose (1" wide very flexible) will access the area through the bypass. I do it three times per season burning 24/7.
