Can someone enlighten me on coal stoker stoves that burn anthracite rice coal? At first glance these units seem comparable to a free standing wood and/or pellet stove except they use coal. I'm guessing the heat is pushed around the room with a blower similar to a pellet stove. I've never seen one in action btw.

I live in coal rich Pennsylvania so the fuel should be abundant and fairly cheap. I'm looking for opinions on performance, ease of use, safety and reliability. The unit would be used to supplement my oil furnace. I did purchase a pellet insert this year and its been great, but I need another unit for my home which is roughly 3300 Sq./ft.

Thank in advance, this forum is a wealth of great experience and information.

Hi there, New here and all but to answer your question there is a coal boiler/furnace and room heater manufcturer that is right here in eastern Pa. They are located in schuylkill haven, Pa. They are www.keystoker.com

I currently have installed numerous of their units and am very pleased with their products and efficiencies. I have their smaller boiler installed in my own house and recommend it to everyone that want to get away from higher fuel prices.

Yes, I am a contractor that sells keystoker's and instals them. I have not had pleasant dealings with other companies including Harman (and as a contractor if I didn't have good dealings with them I can't even imagine how bad they are with the general public)

If I can help with any questions please feel free to ask.
