email alerts?

How do I stop receiving an email every time someone comments on a thread? Thanks for the help

On the taskbar near top of page, hover over your user name. There's a dropdown menu that contains 'alert preferences'. You can change things in there.

Or if you just want to stop the notices for one particular thread only, go to that thread, click "unwatch thread" in the upper right corner.

or, heck, just put it in your SPAM (junk) folder, and should filter the email from there.....

Actually I believe you stop the email notifications under the plain old "Preferences" tab....not the "Alert Preferences"

I want to receive the notifications at the top of this page when I sign on I just dont need an email everytime someone posts on a thread

I'm having the opposite problem. I don't get emails when i want them. All my preferences are set to send email, but I don't get them.

I was not receiving them. Then all of a sudden they started to show up and I did not change a setting weird

Just change your email address. I did that and i cut way down on the emails i got ..... for a little while anyway.

I think if you ignore an alert for that thread you no longer get emails for that thread. Good thing too, gmail would be mad at me.

yes but then when I sign on to the site do you get the red alert at the top of the page if someone posts on that thread?

Not if I ignored the first alert.
