I am new to pellets this year but I'm happy with my 10-cpm so far (I guess we're about halfway through the heating season.) Low maintenance so far - I shut it down and open the door about once a week to 10 days to perform routine maintenance. The maintenance is easy enough to do - maybe 15-20 minutes, 30-40 minutes if it's the once-every-ton burned variety. It doesn't seem all that fussy about what sort of pellets I use either as the stirrer ensures that any ash that attempts to clump is broken up and pushed through the burn pot holes and into the ash can. I previously used an average of 725 gallons of oil to keep my rather poorly sealed house at 62 - 68 degrees, this year I calculate that I'll use about 4 1/2 tons of pellets keeping the house at 66-69 degrees. The equivalent of 725 gallons of oil is about 8 1/2 tons of pellets.

Oh, and I haven't attempted to burn corn or cherry pits yet, but some have - you can use the search function to find those posts.
