We can tell that Scott has not cut much sassafras!

Actually I did cut a TON of it several years ago at hunting camp. I thought it smelled pretty good (it was all dead standing and blowdowns, though)......

I like live black locust when you cut it......to me, it smells like pimentoed olives.....

I used to hate olives, now I love 'em in my salad. Can't sit and eat a pile of them out of the jar, though!

the oak i split around here kind of stinks.. i like the smell of birch when you split it, that winter-green smell

Sass smell is unique and interesting....but nothing can even come close to how good aged White Oak smells.
