Question:

I had a wood furnace rebuilt and the metal workers used galvanized sheet metal for the skin. When the furnace gets hot fumes from the galvanized metal are emitted and some of the zinc? coating pops off. Are these fumes harmful??

Answer:

The fumes are not healthy...however, they should stop after the unit has been burned hot a few times. Keep some decent ventilation in the basement until then.
