I did some surfing yesterday but couldn't find an answer to my question.
I'm redoing my hearth and wanted to use fiberboard then 1/2" stone on top.
If I want to use a high R value fiberboard like the Micor, can you put the motor mix on it then the stone tiles like you can with Durock? The guy at the hardware store mentioned that you would want to use a thin 1/4" plywood over the fiberboard. That doesn't make sense to me, becauase the plywood is flammable. Isn't using a flammable plywood on TOP of the fiberboard a big NO-NO?
How is this supposed to be done? Any experience or knowledge of this subject would help me out.
