How should I replace front door gaskets on jotul f-600. The door tops are curved and where they meet there is a slight gap .I bought the stove used and ther is a gap where the doors meet at the top . It looks as though this is because there is gasketing on one and not the other. Also there is a small hairline crack in the outer baseplate. It looks like the inner baseplate covers it, it is right under the dog house though. Should I cover it with stove cement ? I did notice that last year even with the air closed all the way down the stove still kept burning pretty well. This could be from the gaskets not being tight or the crack I am assuming. Any advice would be appreciated. Finally If I have to have the baseplate repaired or replaced does anyone know of a shop in northwest CT.

Thanks,

as for the gasketing, how does your owners manual say it should be done?
i'm sure the gap at the top should be sealed for longer burns. could the door hinges be bent/loose or otherwise need adjusting?!
a test is to get your fire going, then trace the door with smoke from an insence stick. if smoke sucks in around the door frame or gasket, its time to replace it.

as for the crack, it sounds like it might be cosmetic. post pictures for better answers. the smoke tracing trick might help to determine if the crack is causing any kind of air leak!
furnace cement is only a temp fix, might only last a few fires due to expansion/contraction. JB weld will last longer if it's not in extreme heat zone.
