Tonight I'll be looking at a used Jamestown J1000 pellet stove serial WH-18517 Manual light. The current owner is asking $250. Although the stove is not hooked up the owner is willing to drag it outside and fire it up to verify it works.

Since this is my first pellet, but I've been studying their design for a while, can you give me some basics on what to look out for? In particular, any pros and cons on this particular model? Owners of this model I would greatly appreciate your input.

I plan to call the company today to get a sense of parts availability and cost.

Finally, when loading the stove into my Jeep should I be careful not to set it on one side or the other?

Thanks.
