Hello folks. After scowering the internet, I have come to the experts!
I recently "toured" a potential new home. Something has stumped me. In the basement, appears to be a brick chimney stack. There is no fireplace above. Seeing as its a century home, fair to assume there may have been one at one time which was removed.
On the face of this stack, is a small cast iron face plate, with a little nub.. Im a curious person, so naturally I checked it out. It opens to reveal a small drawer. Small! A credit card could lay flat inside, without much wiggle room from side to side. It might be able to also stand on the hhorizontal edge in the drawer.
This is far too small to be considered an ash tray, in my assumption.
What is it? Other than a cool place to hide treasures haha.
Thanks in advance!
