Its White Oak alright,quercus alba.Quite often its that dark when green & freshly cut.Wait a few days (sometimes even 24hrs) & it'll be the shade that is recognized normally,a light tan or biscuit color.

Thats some nice white oak, one of my favorites.
 
That looks like farily normal White Oak to me. Like Thistle says it is Quercus alba, the White Oak.
