When I first started cutting this, I thought it was a cherry or some other nut tree until I split it. Then I looked hard at the bark and it didn't have that "burnt potato chip" look Thistle told me about in cherries. But next to the cherry rounds, it sure looks the same. My quess is black oak with that smooth bark. Any ideas?
