Hi all,
Just installed my Quadra-fire Mt. Vernon insert last week. Overall the unit runs real well, but I'm having problems getting the the temperature program to run correctly. The unit is programmed using the M-F and S-Su data fields. When looking into the other daily fields (i.e. M, T, W, etc.) the temps and set points have transposed here. The unit is currently set on "Automatic". The problem is the thermostat seems to "forget" when to change the temp at various set points. Here is a specific example:
It's Sunday morning. The S-Su program is currently set to the following:
Wake 6:15am 75
Day 8:45am 75
Evening 6:15pm 75
Night 11:30pm 72
The program calls for the unit to drop to 72 degrees at 11:30pm on Sat night, then rise to 75 at 6:15am on Sunday. Prior to 11:30pm on Saturday it was set to maintain 75 degrees and was doing so before I went to sleep (I did not stay up last night to see what happened at 11:30pm. When I awoke this morning it unit read "set to 72" at 7:15am. So, sometime between 11:30pm and 7:15am it did change to 72 (though I don't know when), but it certainly did not automatically adjust the temp up to 75 when it was programmed to at 6:15am. I fiddled with the t-stat set point times in an attempt to force the next set point to try and see if it jumped up to 75 at that time. Upon exiting the program again, the t-stat then read "set to 75". As I stated above, it is almost as if the unit "forgets" when to change the temp and it somehow "remembers" when I go back into the program and change things.
Similarly, yesterday morning I went down and it was not reading correctly so I detached the t-stat from the back plate and reinstalled it. Upon doing so, the "set to" temp then read correctly.
Also, the issue seems to occur at any of the 4 programmable daily set points. It is not localized to the "wake" condition.
At this point I can only assume that the unit (either T-stat or controller) is defective, but I was hoping to get some advice from fellow owners. I have searched the internet extensively and have not been able to find any documentation of this happening to anyone else. Is it possible that I am doing something incorrectly? This is a new quad unit....stamped manufactured Dec 2010.
Thanks is advance for your input/response.
