About a mile from my home I have spied a nice Black Locust that came down from some recent rain.......Did a couple drive by's and figured why not today. My first official scrounge of the fall with my new saw.... photo.JPG

That is like the most furrowed locust bark I've seen.

All the locust in my area has this bark. Does it look different other places?

UPDATE: Went back to same area and took this oak...I believe it is red oak. A big tree...4 truckloads. Scored some nice btu's today. about 1 mile from home. The last two truck loads the rounds were HEAVY, Like gonna take a pill tonight heavy. Had to have my buddy help me on the last load. Tree was laying down a hill, vines, leaves, by far the most technical cutting I have had to do. Forgot to take a picture of last load. 9 behemoth rounds. I love scrounging wood. Free wood rules. photo 1.jpg photo 2.jpg photo 3.jpg photo 4.jpg

You are a High BTU wood scoring machine.
    Great scores.
All looks to be nice straight grain & will make some perfect spits.

    Way to go!
