Have not had time to post earlier today because I was traffic jammed behind 100 and one idiots who didn't have a clue how to drive in the snow.
I still can't believe those fools took 1 and 1/2 hours to drive 3/4 of a mile at less that one mph.
I went down that same stretch of road in 4 minutes at 10 am. It started snowing at 10:10 am,
really really hard.
By the time I got out of the gas station, as they had a long line of cars, filling up in front of me; at 10:35am,
there was 1 inch on the road & the idiot florida drivers had turned it into a 3/4 mile long parking lot.
I went to fill four 2.5 gal gas cans for my unregistered plow truck, only for use on the private road I own.
I finally got home at noon with about 3 1/2 inch of snow on the ground, from what should have been a 4 minute ride.
I turned my engine off 12 times & listened to 2 or 3 songs on the radio, each time, while waiting to move 1 car length.
unfortunately for me , my tires have good tread everywheres except the one inch on the bottom that actually touches the road, where there is rubber but no tread. Not the red car, the 1998 honda civic daily driver. The red celi would have flown up any of those hills, but I wont drive it in snow when a old clunker is available, instead.
I tried two steep hills to attempt getting onto untraveled side roads, but ended backing down both
because of lack of traction 1/2 ways up & had to back down the hill to the level but unmoving parking(lot) road.
That will teach me to drive in a blizzard with" bald only where it really counts" tires.
Time for 4 new tires, next week, I think.
I didnt get stuck, but I just couldn't make it up really really steep hills.
Anyway, now it is 6:20 pm, 7-8 inch snow & expecting at least another 2 & 1/2 hours more snow.
A good 10 inchs ,I think, drifting to 12 or 14 in places.
Well, at least I have gas for my plow truck now & i blew up the flat rear tire & stuck the battery charger on so it will start tomorrow.
Next, I need to see if my toro 8/26 snowblower will start on last winter's gas. I may need to drain the tank & put in fresh gas. Or worst yet, pull off the carb bowl & clean out the gummy varnish with carb cleaner.
One of these years, I 'll remember to drain the fuel out in april. It just seems easier to clean the carb bowl, once you know how. ;-P
I dont know what it is about conn drivers, they see one snow flake & stick their cars in low 1
with the emergency brakes locked full on, just to make sure thay can't exceed 1 mph. :grrr:
